Highlights

This overnight break will see our coach turn DeLorean and head back in time… kind of! Departing London Saturday early afternoon we will travel upcountry to the wonderful Black Country Living Museumfor a very special evening event. The award-winning open-air museum is a recreation of a village from the early 20th Century, complete with costumed residents, village shops, houses, a fish and chip shop and even a pub! You might recognise the village, it has recently been used as a set for the BBC series Peaky Blinders.

For one night only the Museum will transform itself to relive the sights, sounds and celebration of 1945. Expect re-enactments and street performers, including the D-Day Darlings singers and a sing-along in the Bottle & Glass Inn. There will be vintage vehicles and military and veteran displays, a memorabilia market and 1940s style food – you can even buy a food ration card, which entitles you to a spam fritter! Your ticket for this event is included in the trip cost.Dressing up is not essential but is strongly encouraged!

We will stay overnight at the comfortable Novotel Hotel in Wolverhampton, just a short hop away. Your stay and a full breakfast are included.

The following morning we’ll go back in time even further to the Victorian era, with a trip to Blists Hill Victorian Town. Again, your ticket is included in the cost of the trip! Step back in time more than a hundred years and chat to the townsfolk about their lives, explore their homes, workplaces and shops and see them at work in the bakers, candle factory and blacksmiths. Change your money for shillings and use them in the shops! Enjoy the fun of the fair at the Victorian Fairground and explore the 52 acre site to meet farm animals. Again, you can enjoy traditional fish and chips and a pint in the New Inn pub.

Fancy even more museums? Blists Hill is part of the Ironbridge Gorge, home to 10 remarkable museums, so you are free to explore as you wish (please note, only entry to Blists Hill is included in the trip cost). You may wish to visit the Coalport China Museum, Tar Tunnel, Museum of the Gorge or the Iron Bridge itself, spanning the River Severn. At the end of the day, we will hop back on the coach and back home to London and the present!
