Highlights
Beautiful Salisbury, recently voted as one of the top 10 cities in the world to visit by Lonely Planet, has more than 1000 years of history to discover. Brimming with character, the streets are a delightful mixture of medieval walls, half-timbered Tudor town houses, Georgian mansions and Victorian villas. The city centre is home to some wonderfully historic pubs and cafes, tempting shops and excellent museums.
The crowning glory of the city is it’s world-famous cathedral, home to the Magna Carta and Britain’s tallest spire. Built in the C13th, the elaborate exterior is an amazing spectacle of gothic architecture. The interior is just as lovely, full of interesting features such as a medieval clock and breathtaking stained glass windows.
After exploring the cathedral the Christmas Market awaits in the 18th century Guildhall Square, right in the heart of the city. With the backdrop of the historic Guildhall and surrounded by dozens of other wonderful buildings this is a truly beautiful setting. Over 100 exhibitors in decorated wooden chalets offer goods produced in Britain. From designer crafts to Christmas decorations and all kinds of unusual and tasteful gifts, the emphasis will be very much on unique and desirable gifts, food and drink. Needless to say no Christmas Market would be complete without the seasonal Gluhwein (mulled wine), Bratwurst (German sausage), Stollen and Lebkuchen (gingerbread) as well as our many delicious English specialties, and this Christmas Market will certainly be no exception!
At the end of the day, our comfortable, heated coach will be waiting to carry you and your bags of goodies back to London!
