Make the most of the long weekend with this springtime trip to stunning North Wales, staying in a comfortable 3 star hotel for two nights and exploring best the area has to offer!

Fri 30th March:

We will depart bright and early from South Kensington on board our comfortable coach. We'll travel to the very interesting National Slate Museum (free entry) in Llanberis. This museum, in a beautiful setting, tells the story of the Welsh Slate industry, and features reconstructed worker's cottages, a water wheel and the slate quarries themselves.

Then we will head to our home for the weekend, the Celtic Royal in Caernarfon. This is a very comfortable 3 star hotel with it's own bar, restaurant and even a swimming pool! It is a stones throw from the historic town centre, complete with medieval walls, and the impressive fortress Caernarfon Castle. You are free to explore the town in the evening, there are several places to enjoy dinner (the fish and chips are highly recommended).

Sat 31st March:

After breakfast, we will board the coach and head off to the Isle of Anglesey, a short hop away. In the marine town of Beaumaris (home to another impressive castle) you will have the option of joining a boat excursion around Puffin Island to spot some resident wildlife, including many seabirds, seals, and dolphins and puffins if we are lucky!

After the boat trip there will be some free time to spend in Beaumaris, perhaps uncover some of the town's darker history at the Gaol Museum or enjoy a cream tea at one of the cute tea shops. Then we will take a short drive to Penmon, where you can explore the picturesque remains of a 13th century monastery and take a short walk down to the headland for views of the lighthouse. Then it is back to the hotel for another lovely Caernarfon evening.

Sunday 1st April:

Our last port of call on this trip is the world famous village of Portmeirion. As well as being the setting for the cult 60's TV show The Prisoner, Portmeirion is a colourful and quirky collection of architectural wonders rescued from around Europe. It is very photogenic, every corner reveals a wonderful new viewpoint. There are also acres of woodland and coastal walks to enjoy. After hours of enjoying this magical spot we will make the journey back to London.
